Privacy and Security Policy Statement

We (China Trend Building Press Ltd.) being the Managers and Developers of this SMILE-NET website (hereinafter called ‘SMILE-NET Website’, or ‘Website’) aim to meet and where possible exceed internationally recognised standards of personal data privacy protection, and pledge to fully comply with the requirements of the Hong Kong SAR Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance in operating and maintaining this SMILE-NET Website. In doing so, we will adhere to strict standards of security and confidentiality. If we change our Privacy and Security Policy, we will immediately update this notice.

Privacy Policy

The SMILE-NET privacy policy is based on the following principles. We will endeavour to demonstrate our commitment to these principles.

We only collect data and/or information that we believe to be relevant to, and required for SMILE-NET services and solutions. Those data/information sets will be used to provide better SMILE-NET services and products.
We aim to keep information including your 'shared' data/information on SMILE-NET and in our records as accurate and up-to-date as possible. Wherever relevant and as may be expected by you, we may pass non-sensitive 'shared' information to other agencies and web-site users. However, we will not disclose any of your specific 'shared' information to any external organization unless we have your consent, or are required by law, or as per any previous standing arrangement with you. For example, we may use it for benchmarking purposes or we may be required from time to time to disclose your personal information to Governmental or judicial bodies, their authorised agencies or the SMILE-NET Review Board, but we will only do so under proper authority.
We will not directly sell any personal information we collect for, or already on our Website to third parties. However, we may use any non-sensitive information for sharing and benchmarking purposes If you choose to provide us with personal information, for example by filling-up membership application, sending us an e-mail, participating in a discussion forum, registering in our workshops, or posting information and data in the listing sections offered by us, you are agreeing to share that information with SMILE-NET team, affiliates and any of registered SMILE-NET members. We use personal identifiable information about you (for example, name, mailing address, e-mail address, phone number, project categories, and other information) to provide searchable data/ information in SMILE-NET. Furthermore, we may send you some information related to development and implementation of SMILE-NET services and solutions, workshops, seminars and training arrangements. However, if you do not want us to send you such information, please send us an e-mail, and we will exclude you from such lists.
Your visit to this site may be recorded for analysis of the number of visitors to the site and general usage patterns. Some of this information may be gathered through the use of "cookies". Security Policy

Security of data/information is important to us. We will strive at all times to ensure that your shared project data will be protected against unauthorized or accidental access, processing or erasure. We will pursue this commitment to data security by implementing appropriate and feasible physical, electronic and managerial measures to safeguard and secure your shared project data.

Our web servers are protected behind basic "firewalls" and our systems are monitored to prevent any unauthorized access. All practical steps will be taken to ensure that sensitive data will not be kept longer than necessary and that we will comply with all statutory and regulatory requirements in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region concerning the retention of personally identifiable information.
